Permission Form for events during the
2009-2010 School Year
NOTE: Only those students selected for membership need to
complete and return this form. Rehearsals began in May of 2009 with final
membership selection taking place at the rehearsal on Thursday, August 27, 2009.
The final list will be posted on the band office door by Friday, August 28th.
By receiving this form, your child IS
recommended to participate in the Dodgen German Band for the
2009-2010 school year.
The Dodgen German Band has several performances scheduled for the 2009-2010 school year. A more detailed performance schedule will be provided as schedules are finalized. Students will wear the official German Band uniform which is the same as the regular band uniform except they will need to purchase a special German Band shirt and hat for this event. Please mark these dates on your calendar now.

Please note: I have allowed many students to give the German Band a try beginning last spring in hopes that many would be encouraged to practice in order to participate. Keep in mind, however, that the music is very difficult and fast- usually not used for middle school students. Plus, there is a large number of pieces to learn in a short period of time. The weekly practice sessions at Dodgen will not be sufficient to prepare students without extensive practice sessions at home. Please do not be discouraged if your child is not recommended to participate in performances this year. They will be able to practice the music in the spring of 2010 for the fall 2011 performance. By preparing for performances, students have a fun way to make MAJOR progress on their performance skills.

I understand that the size of this ensemble demands full participation from all members of the ensemble or we will be unable to take advantage of performance opportunities. I understand that I must arrange for my child's transportation to an from all rehearsals and all performances. I understand that I must purchase a German Band shirt and hat.
